The Unwind Dystology is a series of science fiction novels by young adult literature author Neal Shusterman. It consists of Unwind, UnWholly, UnSouled, and UnDivided, as well as the companion books UnStrung and UnBound. A TV series of the first book is currently being planned.
The series centers on a group of people set for unwinding during a time in the future when children between the ages of thirteen and eighteen can be "unwound" by their parents. In this future, it is widely believed that, since the child's organs are transplanted into different donors, life for the unwinds do not technically end.
- The series was originally set to be a trilogy and would have concluded with UnSouled; when the aforementioned book reached 630 pages, Neal and his editors decided to split the books and have the fourth book UnDivided conclude the series.
- The permission for the use of the real world articles through out the series was a complicated process, author Neal Shusterman had to pay for most of the articles, some being too expensive to purchase.
- Some fans had speculated Arc of a Scythe and the Unwind Dystology took place in the same world, the Unwind series being the events that led to Scythe, but author Neal Shusterman has confirmed they are different worlds.
